Running Etiquette Pinoy Runners should know

A few days ago we asked everyone what do you think are the top running etiquette that each runner should know and abide when running a race event. We got some amazing responses and decided to share them here!

1. Don’t suddenly stop and take a “Selfie”.
We know it’s a fun run and you want to make it extra memorable by taking a few snaps, but if you must take a “selfie” just be mindful of the runners behind you and don’t suddenly stop or at least move to the side of the road before you take your pictures.

2. Practice discipline, especially in taking care of your trash.
We know it’s a race and you want to drink as fast as you can and ditch that cup of water. That’s OK, organizers normally clean them up after the race, but as much as possible throw empty cups in the garbage bins provided or at least near the hydration stations, not somewhere in-between hydration station 1 and 2.

3. Observe proper Hygiene
In short, Don’t Spit.

4. Warn before passing someone
When passing someone, give them a warning, say “Passing Through” or something similar, say “Thanks” afterwards.

5. Give respect to ALL runners.
Fast or Slow. Remember, every one of us started from 0. Don’t pull anyone down, give an encouraging word instead “Kaya mo yan” or “Keep going” should work pretty well.

6. It’s human to Walk.
Everyone gets tired, but if you must walk or stop to take some time to rest, don’t do it suddenly, slowly pace down and if possible move to the side of the race course.

7. Wave and Give a Cheer
Though some runners prefer to zone out during a run to focus on themselves, others feel energized when seeing a wave or hearing a cheer, try it and let’s all promote a sense of camaraderie.

8. Don’t forget to Have Fun!
- After all we all do this for the love of running and fitness. PR or not don’t forget to smile and enjoy every race.

Unilab Run United 2 – June 1, 2014

Unilab Run United 2 2014 500m/10/21/32KM (SM MOA)

Unilab Run United 2 2014 will be on June 1, 2014 at SM Mall of Asia. Run United 2 features a 32KM distance in preparation for the Run United Philippine Marathon this coming October 2014.  Save the date and train well!
The Run United (RU) series will remain focused on providing long distance categories: RU1 with 5km, 10km, and 21km and RU2 with 10km, 21km, and 32km categories. You can also save the dates for the Run United Trilogy happening on the following dates:

Isang Umaga, Isang Takbo , Isang alaala FrancisM RUN

FrancisM Run is First ever event (organize by RUNtarantantan).  In fact, last Sunday was its 1st edition of Run to remembering the pinoy rapper Francis Magalona.

It was still a good race to us, the route Luneta to Coastal Mall is a good running place. Too bad it was short 16 Kilometers! Because me and my running buddies always run to 21K category.

The hydration to this run is only water, no Gatorade, no Pocari Sweat, in short no energy drink. I think they dont have sponsor, Still hopping next year it will going to improved. MORE SPONSOR TO COME!! RUNtarantantan..

I had to choose wisely where I will drink my water because there were some stations that lines were long and would mean losing seconds or minutes in this race.  There were also some stations where the crew were still busy filling up the plastic cups so that was something I had to skip as well.

I was able to maintain my pace and when the time came where I had to go faster, I ate the Banana I had with me and went out at a faster speed.  This worked for me until I felt pain in my right shoulder because i holding my DSLR Camera when running. YES! I run together with my camera because i am not satisfied with the baggage counter to this event, i feel my camera is not secured. But I resisted the pain or the temptation to slow down because of the pain and kept going at the pace that I wanted.

In the middle of the race i saw my Running Buddies Kelvinkiel Rivera. I saw my friend walking painful because her feet. So I decide to accompany him on his walk to the finish line.

I crossed the finish line at 2:24:19, with an average pace of 6:50. Not bad!!

Ang Dalawang Idol pagdating sa Takbuhan

Ang Dalawang idolo pagdating sa takbuhan ay nagsama para ipromote ang "FrancisM Run". Ang Takbo ito ay tribune para sa pumanaw na Master Rapper na si Francis Magalona. Ang takbo ito ay para sa kanyang death month anniversary. Ang cool lang tignan na yung dalawang idol mo pagdating sa takbuhan ay nagkakaisa at magkaibigan, ang kulang nalang sa picture ako para tatlo bigatin runner.. hahahhahaha

 Nagsama sa isang larawan sina  "Coach Rio Dela Cruz" and "Bearwin Meily" ang dalawang bigatin organizer na mga takbo, event na ginaganap sa pilipinas. Kilala si Rio sa pag oorganize ng mga takbo sa RUN UNITED at iba pa run. Samantala si Bearwin Meily ay nagsisismula palang bilang organizer karamihan sa mga event na inoorganize niya ay successful, ang pinakasikat niyan run ay ang FrancisM Run, na kung saan dinumog ang mga mall upang magparegister. Isang araw naubos ang slot for 16k ng ganung kabilis. Kaya nga naman marami na ngayun ang umiidolo sa kanya.

Running photographer

Pagkatapos tumakbo ng 10k sa Run United 1. Ito naman ang tamang pagkakataon para gawin ko ang isa ko kinahihiligan hobby ang pagkuha ng larawan o photography. Perfect time para mapicturan ko ang isa sa mga sikat na banda sa Pilipinas ang "Parokya ni Edgar".

Isa ito sa mga bigatin nag concert sa Run united Run History. Im looking forward kung sinu naman kaya ang mag perform sa Run United 2 at Run United Philippine, sana si Gloc 9 naman. Nung hindi pa nagsisismula mag perform at kasalukuyan pa sila nasa backstage ay di pa ganong karami yung tao sa harapan nung stage. Pero nung nagsimula ng iaanounce na ang susunod na magpeperform sa stage ay Parokya ni Edgar. Bigla dumami ang tao lalo na nung nagsimula na silang kumanta.
